INOC Case Study:
NOC Services for the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA)
Customer
The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) is the premier professional association dedicated to science and education in radiology. With headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois, RSNA was founded in 1916 and currently has more than 40,000 members from around the world.
Challenge
Provide critical NOC services for RSNAnet, a temporary network built every year to support RSNA's Annual Meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago. Designed with equipment from Force 10, Extreme, Cisco, ADVA, Meru, Packeteer, Fortinet and TippingPoint, the complex 10-Gigabit Ethernet network spans 85 closets across three buildings.
62,000 attendees and 750 exhibitors use the network at the six-day conference to view and exchange radiological images, show medical equipment interoperability, access exhibit information, participate in web-based courses, exchange emails and surf the Web.
The goal is to maintain 100% network availability during conference hours of 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
